The Poetry of Shy LhenEsposo with Nick Armbrister

Shy LhenEsposo and Nick Armbrister

This collection covers the joint projects of Shy Lhen Esposo writing with Nick Armbrister. The poems include their Ace series about a German pilot and the Jewish lady he falls in love with. Their romance is a turbulent one.

Also here is Through Open Hangar Doors which cover love and space travel on a trip to the stars.

If you're a fan of love poetry in conflict and science fiction, this is for you. Shy's poignant work contests well with Nick's vivid pieces.

Ace: Gun Metal Sky

'The Americans have a new bomber. The Flying Fortress. We will soon fight it when they attack our cities...'

Otto was posted back to France after a year.

His Russian escapade was over.

In that time he became a man.

A cold blooded aerial killer.

His affair with Ace was history.

She was in a grave.

Shy was his lady.

He only had eyes for her.

Just like his love.

There was little time for romance.

Allied bombers attacked.

Ferocious battles where death ruled.

Otto led his squadron to stop them.

They had to be victorious.

He had to beat win.

All would be lost if they failed.

It was a contest.

Like his earlier one in love.

Blue sky formed a balance.

Cold blooded and utterly merciless.

Otto killed without thinking.

Almost a robot.

This was different from Russia.

They never had flying battleships,

each with a dozen lethal guns.

The mission tempo was great.

Three times a day they rose to fight.

One time Otto got two B-17s and a B-24.

Then his luck ran out again.

Another war wound.

A 50 cal slug in his thigh.

He almost bled to death.

His cockpit was red with blood.

A hundred stitches saved his leg.

Finally, time with his lady, Shy, again.

My love, I thought you were lost.

You're hurt.

I'll care for my injured pilot.

My love will heal you.

Nobody will ever hurt you again.

I won't let them.

I'll soothe away your pain.

Otto was grounded.

He yearned to fly.

And endured love.

Unending and unconditional.

Slowly he healed.

Shy watched him like a hawk.

Otto belonged to her.

They reminisced about their past.

Happy times then and now.

Three months to kill.

Kissing, making love, talking, dreaming.

They wanted to get married.

But knew it was impossible.

Shy was part Jewish...

ZEAL-8

"Human born to make mistakes." (Shy)

"The thought of losing you..."

It's been ten years since I left

our home sweet home near the beach.

I’m thinking of going back and visiting

our love nest of sweet memories.

But I can't, not now Addy.

One of these days when Alley is free.

Alley is our son, who you haven't seen

because you're not around.

Now, I feel the pain once again,

I become a coward to face the past.

I used to live one day at a time,

my emotions, a cascading dawn.

But here comes Alley, my only Alley,

who gave me hope and strength.

He gives me joy when I'm sad

and is the reason I’m alive.

I know one of these days,

he’ll ask me where his daddy is?

I'm terrified and uncomfortable to answer.

Where are you Addy?

I don't know what to say.

"The thought of losing you,

in my dreams, memories and life,

is the last thing I will ever do...

I’m only human, it can't reside

with the nightmare you've moulded in my heart."

This is what Alley sees all the time.

He saw my tears fall down,

his tiny hand rubbed my back,

he hugged me unconditionally,

kissed me and whispered,

"Mommy! Please don't cry, please stop."
